What he was doing with his money

Jack MacDonald lived simply and when he died at 98 in September 2013, he left a donation of 188 Million dollars to charity. He collected coupons. He checks stores for sales. He dressed simply. Shy and unassuming, wearing a sweater with holes, you'd not have realized that he inherited a fortune from his parents. He  stewarded  his parent's money as he saw it as his role. He invested in stocks and grew his wealth. And he was happy with what he was doing with his money.

It's a lifestyle. A simple life of accumulating wealth for meaningful purposes.  Jack wanted to be remembered as a philanthropist.

Reallionaire

First time to see a Reallionaire, "rich inside out".   At 6 yr old, he sold painted stones to his neighbors. His father was an activist with no salary, his mother had a heart attack so he needed to help her out. "You can make the stone  as paper weight or door stopper." Farrah Gray became a millionaire at the age of 14.

Blogs On Financial Education

Today, I added two blogs in my blog list. Yes, the first two. One is Pinas For Good and Bo Sanchez. Both blogs do financial education. And it's what my new blog hopes to do too. Last night, when I stumbled on the blog Pinas For Good,by "a 27-year-old Overseas Filipino Worker who constantly dreams of everything Philippines. She is goal-oriented and loves to experiment with different strategies to keep her expenses low and boost her net worth.", I was captivated by the picture of a library that goes with the post of an OFW somewhere in it enjoying reading, etc. And she was reading on Finances! It's my current interest as well. So, I started reading the post, "Fighting Homesickness On a Budget" and more. She writes well. She has posted on "How Did I Become A Stock Market Investor?" and within in she mentioned "The Richest Man In Babylon". I have read it, but not the "My Maid Invests in the Stock Market...and Why You Should, Too!", by Bo Sanchez. To find the free ebook she mentioned I looked for Bo Sanchez. I have heard two friends talked about him before. I've seen his blog before and even subscribed to an upcoming offering. But now that I realized we may be on to the same thing, so I bloglisted him. ;-) We'll see.

Wealth

Wealth by Andrew Carnegie written in June 1889 came to my attention via the story of a secret billionaire Chuck Feeney, the founding chairman of The Atlantic Philantropies, who was deeply influenced by this famous essay.

The author believes that the rich man's wealth should be used to help  fellow folks and it be administered by him before he passes away. He concludes,

"Such, in my opinion, is the true Gospel concerning Wealth, obedience to which is destined some day to solve the problem of the Rich and the Poor, and to bring ' Peace on earth, among men Good-Will.""
